Menifee Area Information

The Menifee, California locality was originally inhabited by the Luiseño and Pechango Indians who used the area for hunting and search for food. During the 1700s, the Spanish empire not only controlled this area, but also the Pio Pico district as well as the last governor of Alta, California. On September 1850, the USA annexed California as its 31st state.

Once called the Paloma Valley, the Menifee Valley consists of Sun City, Quail Valley and Menifee. Paloma is Spanish for Dove, explaining “Dove Valley” and Quail Valley. In 1880, thirty years later, Luther Menifee Wilson arrived in the area to score gold, with little success. Shortly thereafter, the Kirkpatrick and Newport families arrived. The Kirkpatrick family was the owner of the land where Menifee Lakes now resides.

The current City of Menifee is located in Southwest Riverside County, about 30 miles outside of Downtown Riverside. Menifee is a steadily emerging family-oriented community and it borders Murrieta. The City is nestled between Los Angeles and San Diego, one hour each way. With an overall population of 85,385, the Menifee property management professionals are always available to help manage any of the local rental properties. According to some sources, the Valley is projected to gain up to 115,000 residents by 2030. Other spectators have commented that the master plan is designed for Menifee to develop into a 200,000 to 250,000 residential community.
