Scripps Ranch Area Information
Scripps Ranch is a San Diego, California community north of Marine Corps Air Station Miramar and south of Poway. The coastal bedroom setting is the hub of the Miramar Reservoir and offers amazing boating and fishing recreation. Scripps Ranch, San Diego features a unique landscaping ambiance that includes mature eucalyptus trees, most prominent along the Pomerado Road. Originally a 400-acre ranch, it was ultimately expanded to a 1,200- acre oasis by its owner, the newspaper publisher named E. W. Scripps.
The Scripps Ranch planning Group and the Miramar Ranch North Planning Committee were elected to advise the city on local planning and land-use issues. Also, the Scripps Ranch Civic Association or SRCA acts as the ancillary Community Town Council. The SRCA met once a month to advise the City on all issues involving the Quality of Life. They were the eyes and ears for the community in that they published a 70-80 page Community Newsletter that was hand-delivered every 30 days. Hundreds of local citizens volunteered their time to deliver the newsletter to approximately 12,000 households in the community.
The Scripps Ranch Civic Association sponsors the 4th of July Parade annually, along with the Holiday Tree Lighting Ceremony, Spring Community Fair, Community Volunteer Recognition Night, and the Community Clean-up/Garage Sale events. The Scripps Ranch property Management team can also update interested property owners with the areas current events or direct them to the SCRA website,
www.scrippsranch.org. The website highlights current activities that impact the community such as the budget issues that triggered the shuttering of the facility in 2009. In October 2003, a portion of south Scripps Ranch was shattered by the Cedar Fire that destroyed over 300 homes. To date, Scripps Ranch, San Diego inland community offers its people ongoing recreation, unobstructed coastal views, night lights, and breathtaking sunsets.
